Intentional Living – It begins with choice.
Nearly twenty years ago, when Darren Hardy was leading SUCCESS magazine, each issue included an audio CD featuring interviews with influential leaders and thinkers. One of the most memorable conversations was with the legendary Paul J. Meyer.
It was the kind of interview that doesn’t just inform you — it challenges you.
An Unexpected Moment That Changed a Marriage
Shortly after the interview was released, Darren received a letter from a new subscriber describing an unexpected moment that altered the course of his marriage.
The man had borrowed a friend’s car during a party to run a quick errand. When he started the engine, the Paul J. Meyer interview began playing.
As he listened, one question stood out:
How had Paul kept “the magic” alive in his marriage for decades?
The Power of Intentional Action
Paul’s answer was simple but powerful.
He said he intentionally continues to court his wife. Each morning, he creates a plan to make her feel valued, respected, and loved that day.
Not occasionally.Not when convenient.But daily.
That insight struck the listener deeply. He realized that while he had quietly believed his marriage was losing its spark, he had never considered that he could be the one to restore it.
Personal Responsibility Changes Everything
Instead of finishing his errand, he drove home.
Sitting beside his wife, he admitted that he had become self-focused and inattentive. He committed to being intentional from that day forward — to show appreciation, respect, and love daily.
Over time, that decision changed the trajectory of their relationship.
Transformation rarely begins with dramatic external change.
It begins with personal responsibility.
When we shift our mindset and actions, circumstances often begin to shift as well.
Growth Begins With One Decision
Intentional Living – Growth — whether in health, relationships, business, or purpose — begins with one decision:
To act differently than we did yesterday.
Consistent, intentional action compounds.
Small daily changes create long-term results.
That lesson applies far beyond marriage. It applies to leadership, wellness, mindset, and the way we show up each day.
Listen to the Original Paul J. Meyer Interview
If you haven’t listened to Paul J. Meyer’s message, it is well worth your time.
Sometimes a single idea, applied consistently, can reshape an entire season of life.
One of my favorite interviews with Paul J. Meyer is now available on Facebook inside Wellness Zone – The Best Zeolite.
